Engage with our community
There’s always so much is happening across our ANZIC community – in our region and all around the world. Catch up with the latest news, events, and opportunities to explore, educate, engage in the world of scientific drilling.

Apply to Join! IODP3 Safety & Environment Advisory Group
Advance your career by serving as a member of the IODP3 Safety and Environment Advisory (SEA) Group. Applications are now open.
SEA is an advisory body to the IODP³ MSP Facility Board, Science Evaluation Panel and the IODP³ Operators. It provides essential independent advice regarding potential safety and environmental issues associated with the general and specific geological settings of proposed drilling/coring sites. The group also provides advice on appropriate drilling/coring technologies and geopolitical and cultural considerations.
IODP³ is seeking applications from specialists in marine geology, geophysics and/or engineering.
Apply by Friday 21 March.
NEW OPPORTUNITY!
The NEW ANZIC Prize for Best Student Publication in scientific drilling aims to foster community, celebrate excellence, and recognise outstanding contributions to scientific drilling research within the ANZIC community.
The Winner will receive a plaque recognising their achievement, along with an all-expenses-paid trip to attend and present at the 2025 ANZIC Forum in Auckland in June.

ICDP Australia Workshop
With Australian ICDP membership imminent, join us to kick-start Australia’s participation in the International Continental Scientific Drilling Program!

Unveiling Earth’s Microbial Mysteries with IODP
If you missed this exciting seminar highlighting IODP discoveries in microbiology, you can now view the Recording! Four fabulous speakers from across three Australian Universities:

Understanding plate dynamics – Luca Magri on Expedition 402
A collection of cores – sampled in a small cross off the coast of Italy – could help settle a debate in plate tectonics that’s been running for over 30 years.

Examining the Mediterranean’s past lives & their impact on global climate: Professor Simon George on IODP Expedition 401
Past changes to the gateway between the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean created some phenomenal events and changed ocean circulation and chemistry. Scientist will drill down – on land and under sea – to understand the details.

Tracking the travels of dust – could ocean cores hold the key?
A project funded by ANZIC’s AILAF Grants aims to investigate.
We all know dust can travel on the wind… and get into everything – usually in small amounts. For researchers like Dr Sam Marx, at the University of Wollongong
Never miss an opportunity again
